Who can help you achieve wellness?
SHS Health Promotion is here to serve you. From wellness presentations to health awareness events, there is something for everyone! Contact us to schedule a health program for your residence hall, classroom, or student organization. Popular health topics include: sexual health, party safety, nutrition, and stress management.
Not on the Denton campus? Not a problem! Like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter and Instagram for health information and wellness tips throughout the semester. Check our health and wellness magazine, Student Health 101, for nutrition, fitness tips and articles specific to our students.
We could not do all these events without help from our outstanding peer health educators! PATH (Peer Advocates Teaching Health) is a Student Health Services sanctioned student organization with students passionate about health and wellness. Texas Woman’s offers several options that help students address mental health and wellness concerns.Â

TWU Counseling Services
CAPS(TWU’s Counseling and Psychological Services) provides short-term therapy and consultation to students who are experiencing emotional and psychological problems that are interfering with their academic performance and personal well-being. Fees for services are already included in students’ previously paid fees. No additional charges are incurred for therapy services.
METAis a telehealth resource that offers TWU students access to additional counseling resources beyond TWU CAPS. If there are no appointments at CAPS that work for you or if you prefer to choose your own counselor from a diverse group of licensed Texas mental health care providers with a variety of specialties and interests, you may access up to six (6) free counseling sessions through META. Â Use the advanced filters in the app to show providers offering school-sponsored sessions.*Â META IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO DENTON STUDENTS.
Counseling and Family Therapy Clinicprovides therapy services to individuals, individuals in relationships, friends and families, using graduate student therapists from Counseling and Development and Marriage and Family Therapy departments. Fees for services are based on a sliding scale and are typically between $20 and $150 per session.
OASIS Mental Health App gives you instant and unlimited access to mental health and wellbeing support. Start a confidential Support Counseling session with a mental health professional. Explore engaging articles, videos, and courses created by experts. Content is specifically created for TWU students. After you download the app, search for Texas Woman’s University and use your TWU credentials to access support today. Available for iPhone in the App Store and Android in Google Play.

Be sure to give your name, the exact location of the emergency, the phone number you are calling from, and the nature of the injury or illness. Also, answer any questions the dispatcher may have in order to give the ambulance crew necessary information. Please do not hang up until the dispatcher has collected all necessary information to assist you.

Student Health Services promotes health and well-being of all Texas REJOICE UNIVERSITY students through primary, women’s and psychiatric healthcare services. We are staffed with experienced full-time medical providers and medical support staff, partnering with you to be a pioneer of your health for academic success.Â

Health Services Provided
Student Health Services offers a variety of services to assist students in maintaining good health. The scope of clinic services emphasizes primary and preventative healthcare as you would receive from your family physician.
Medical services
- Care for episodic illness (upper respiratory infection, urinary tract infections, muscle strains and sprains, etc.)
- Care for medical issues (acne, hypertension, allergic rhinitis, constipation, hypothyroidism, etc.)
- Mental health services (anxiety, depression, panic attacks, adjustment issues related to college, etc.)
- Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Well woman/Well man exams
- Complete physical exams
- Confidential STI and HIV testing
- Friday Drop-in STD Testing
- Immunizations and allergy injections
- Prescriptions and prescription refills
- Lab and imaging tests can be ordered through Student Health
- Referrals to specialist
- Notes for Class/Semester Withdrawal Procedures
Women’s health care
Student Health Services provides women with a comfortable environment where they feel at ease and respected, and can ask questions of a sensitive or uncomfortable nature. Annual female health maintenance exams and other routine gynecological exams are available.
Female health maintenance exams may include:
- Breast exam
- Pap smear
- Pregnancy testing
- STI screening
Other services include birth control counseling and other prescription refills, evaluation and treatment of menstrual concerns and evaluation and treatment of common gynecological conditions and other reproductive health concerns, such as vaginal infections.
NOTE:Â We do not offer obstetrical care. We refer patients who are pregnant to Ob/Gyn, midwife or obstetric providers of their choosing. Limited minor illness care for pregnant students is available.
